Inside Out
High School Ministry of Wildwood Church
Our student ministry is based on the command in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20 and that is to make disciples. The passage shows us three ways: by going, baptizing and teaching. Wildwood church says it this way: winning, building and equipping. Our student ministry says it this way: connecting, growing and leading.
To make disciples we want to be about:
Connecting students to Jesus,
Growing them up in Christ, and
Leading them to do the same for others.
We want to Connect students by C.P.R. (cultivating, planting & reaping)
We try to build friendships (cultivating) through various ways: Big House Parties, 1 Nite, going out to eat, etc. Once we start meeting new people, we want to begin talking about God (planting) as people become open to the gospel. Then as the gospel message is shared, God may give understanding to the person (reaping) and then they their faith in Christ. If an event helps us meet new people or begin to talk about God then that time is Connecting.
Examples can be seen in Mark 2:13-15 or John 1:35-49. Notice how connections were made through relationships. (Jesus got to eat with the tax collectors because of Levi in Mark 2. Simon hears about Jesus through his brother and Nathaniel hears through his friend Philip.)
We want to Grow students by A.C.T.S. (adoration, community, truth & serving)
We want to worship God (adoration) in the way He deserves and in the way He tells us to. We want to build one another up and help each other out (community). We want to learn and study God’s Word (truth). We want to express our love for God by helping those inside and outside of the church (serving). Having Inside Out on Sunday Nights, and worship services on Sunday morning, combined with teaching the students H.A.B.I.T.S. we believe they will Grow.
An example of all four things can be found in Acts 2:42-47. We see the early believers doing all four of these things. Notice how when they were growing, God added to their number daily, those who were being saved.
