The most important relationship a person can have is with God. You can have a relationship with God by recognizing these four truths:
Truth 1: God loves you and wants you to have fellowship with Him.
God created us in His own image. He made us that we might honor Him and enjoy Him forever. We are important to God.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
“Jesus Christ said, ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’” – John 10:10
Truth 2: Sin separates you from the fellowship of God.
We chose to disobey god and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This leads to separation from God.
“Your sins have cut you off from God.” -Isaiah 59:2
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…For the wages of sin is death (spiritual separation from God).” -Romans 3:23, 6:23
Individuals have tried many ways to solve this problem of separation, including trusting in religion, rituals, good works, and morality. but our efforts to find God and bridge this separation are without success.
Truth 3: Jesus Christ is the only answer to the problem of separation. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He bridges the gap between God and people. He is the way to fellowship between you and God.
“God is on one side and all the people on the other side, and Christ Jesus…is between them to bring them together, by giving His life for all mankind.” -1 Timothy 2:5-6
“Christ died for sins once for all… to bring you to God” – 1 Peter 3:18
“Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” -John 14:6
Truth 4: We must individually trust Jesus Christ and receive Him as Savior and Lord. Then we can enter into fellowship with God as His child.
“Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will go in and eat with him and he with Me.” – Revelation 3:20
If we continue to trust in our own efforts to find acceptance from God, we will remain separated from Him forever. By trusting Christ we receive forgiveness of our sin. We are related to God forever.
“To all who received Him (Jesus Christ), to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” -John 1:12
“But when the time came for the kindness and love of God our Savior to appear, then he saved us – not because we were good enough to be saved, but because of His kindness and pity – by washing away our sins and giving us the new joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God) who He poured out upon us…and now we can share in the wealth of the eternal life He gives us.” – Titus 3:4-7
How you can receive Christ by faith through prayer:
Prayer is talking to God. God is more concerned with the attitude of your heart than your words. Here a suggestion for a prayer to receive Christ into your life:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I want you to come into my heart and life as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”
